Sophie Fisher’s Courtroom Sketch Impresses Judge

During a visit to Federal Court organized as part of True Crime (LIT 410), Senior Illustration major Sophie Fisher sketched this quick doodle of the Honorable George L. Russell, III accompanied by the court’s executive assistant, surrounded by bits of testimony from the gang trial he was presiding over that week. The judge noticed Sophie’s sketch and liked it so much that his law clerk asked if he could get hold of a copy. He wrote, “We framed it and presented it to the judge on the Friday before Christmas- and he instantly recognized it and clearly got a kick out of seeing it again. That trial was a memorable event of 2018, so it’s neat that he had such a stylish, artistic token from it.”
