Calvin Hutcheon is a Graphic Design and Humanistic Studies dual major.
His HMST thesis is entitled Cybernetic Reemergence within Blockchain Networks: More than Human Stakeholdership and the World Computer.
“The cybernetic legacy is mixed. Its systems oriented thinking gave rise to ecology, yet these same tools provided the conceptual and technological framework for global, networked capitalism. Despite its technocratic effect, there has been renewed interest in cybernetic utopias within blockchain circles. For my Humanistic Studies thesis, I researched what these utopian aspirations represent today. In my studio practice I’ve investigated this phenomenon by constructing a hybrid digital/biological tradebot.”
